Fall has treated New England well. Even though the season started out unseasonably chilly, the everlasting color and recent mildness has been a redeeming gift.

Today however, the rain has come. And it seems that most of the leaves, surprising still more golden than brown, are being torn from trees. The season of gray spotted with hunting orange (known in other places as florescent) is upon us.

The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange is performing at Juice 2.0: Building Maine’s Innovation Networks next weekend.

The image above is from Drift, a performance inspired by the sprawl of strip malls in choreographer Cassie Meador’s hometown of Augusta, Georgia .

By turns comical and wistful, the work offers the viewer an opportunity to look backward and forward in time. What happens to the earth? What happens to our homes? What becomes of the people who live and work in specific places? What do we leave behind for the future?
