A week or so ago I finally got around to sorting and uploading pictures from the trip and my cousin Matthew’s wedding to Brianna.

Unexpectedly, my Aunts Charlotte and Leslie booked the same flights as my family all the way from Bangor, Maine to Portland, Oregon (I kind of wish we had flown Portland to Portland, next time!). My sister had figured this out beforehand, but it was a surprise to me! Another surprise was the life sized photo taken from the head of Camden Harbor behind baggage claim carousal in Bangor. It is confirmed: I live in a postcard.

Speaking of postcards, we traveled from one to another. Oregon is gorgeous. Looking at my Flickr set, I realize I took an embarrassing number of pictures of the Oregon coast. I just couldn’t help it! The place is stunning. Lush. Grand.

The wedding was grand too, but in an understated way. Held at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse, the event was intimate. An owl oversaw the dancing from above in the octagonal barn. The weather was perfect. The bride and groom relaxed and happy. And we danced!

Homeward bound, we ended up on the same plane, in the same row as our flight West. Proof of this fact: I found Richard’s half finished sudoku from the week before in my backseat pocket. HA!

And that wraps up a pretty successful family trip if I do say so myself!

patrickmoberg:

UM DUH

RAIGHT HERR RAIGHT HERR

Whoa. This song was the jam while I was backpacking through New Zealand in the spring of 2000. I had just graduated, completing a late 90’s high school experience that was musically defined by the likes of Phish, Dave Matthews and Ani Difranco. New Zealand offered a shift in perspective for both life and music.

One night at a <strike>college</strike> uni bar in Christchurch (NZ’s drinking age had just changed to 18, so I was even legal), I remember being totally surprised that when S-Club 7 played the entire establishment sang at along the top of their lungs (waving their hands in the air) to this pop song. Even though the video is cringe worthy, at that moment in my life, the pop song sing-along was pretty much the most refreshing thing, ever.

Fox Island Wind Project

AV crewing @ Juice 2.0 (kind of like a mini local PopTech), which wraps up a dynamic (almost overwhelmingly so) fall of event participation (CIFF, PopTech, Juice) at the Camden Opera House.

Seeing a line up of 11 of Maine’s current gubernatorial candidates during a breakout session @ Juice.

Jen’s cowboy themed 30th birthday party. Meeting Jen’s mother Muffy at said party.

New friendships!

Pulling the Eagle Medicine Card, and discovering The Discovery of Power Through the Ways of Animals.

Let’s count the ways:

No RSS feeds

Flashing Bullshit- Excuse me, but 3 different portions of my screen are flashing. Two are ads, one is a um, revolving news section.

Comments: No threading? Really? REALLY?

I’m too tired/drunk to explore and to be continually disappointed by this lack of innovation and insult to my internet usage.

Get your act together. Do you people even use the internet for anything other than jerking off? This “upgrade” is at least two years behind the times. The fact that this shit is peddled to communities across the country is embarrassing.

Believe me, a more thorough rant is to come.

Weekend on Wings on Vimeo (via Vimeo) Heya, here are some clips...

Weekend on Wings on Vimeo (via Vimeo) Heya, here are some clips from the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta when I went a yachting in August.

Coming off of CIFF and PopTech, I’ve been thinking a lot about how sometimes I feel like a transient in my own town. Hanging out with filmmakers one weekend, innovators and musicians or yachties the next. This is a good thing, I think.

In this case, I spent the weekend with the crew of White Wings at the invitation of Donald, the owner. Even though I’ve known Donald and the W’s for 10+ years, this was my first time meeting this particular crew. For the weekend I entered onto their home, and into their world. And even though I was in Maine and I attend the ERR every year, entering into an established group’s rhythm changes everything.

The crew by the way was super and the video isn’t lying, I had a fantastic weekend full of lots of laughs, drinks and of course sailing. I know the music is pretty epic in the video… but sailing on a wooden boat in Maine among nearly a hundred other wooden boats is pretty freaking epic.

Or maybe I’m just feeling sentimental.
