Thelonious Monk - Blue Monk from Jazz on a Summer’s Day.
Doc, my sailing coach at CofC was a lover of jazz so eight hour drives to regattas (South to Florida and North to Annapolis) were regularly accompanied by the excessive volume of Thelonious Monk.
As passengers listening to more than our fair share of jazz, our response was comparable to those shown in this audience. How much fun do these people look like they’re having?! Nice shades though!
This clip, funny enough, is also sprinkled with scenes from the 1958 America’s Cup in Newport. And at the 2:00 mark there’s a shot of an outboard engine, identical to the one we use on our skiff today!
